Abad Looking Good

Former Greeneville Astro Fernando Abad is off to a good start this spring.  He was singled out by Manager Brad Mills yesterday after the Astros game yesterday.

“The ball came out of his hand really good,” Mills said. “That’s an adjustment from what we saw last year (when Abad had a 7.22 ERA in 29 appearances.
“It’s more like 2010 (when Abad had a 2.84 ERA in 22 games), the way he’s throwing the ball right now.”
Abad made is MLB debut in 2010 with a 2.84 ERA in 19 innings.  After an impressive winter ball season he made the team in 2011 but struggled with a 7.32 ERA in 19 2/3 innings before being sent down to AAA.  He missed some of the season with shoulder tendonitis and was sent down to the GCL for rehab.  This off season, he only appeared in four games in the Dominican Winter League and none after November.  He appears rested and ready to go.  It is still early but this might be a year for him to have a full year in the big leagues.
